Researcher Mahmoud Shaker

Researcher Mahmoud Eid Shaker Ahmed is considered one of the prominent figures in the Egyptian media and academic fields, combining professional journalism with scholarly research, and contributing significantly to the advancement of media studies and the enhancement of journalistic professionalism. Born on April 11, 1985, in Menoufia Governorate, he pursued his academic path and earned an M.A. in Media from Menoufia University in 2022 with highest distinction. His thesis was entitled “Economic Journalism Discourse in Online News Websites – A Case Study on the New Suez Canal Project”. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University. Earlier, he obtained a B.A. in Arts – Media Department (Journalism major) from Menoufia University in 2007, graduating sixth in his class, followed by a Pre-Master’s program in Journalism and Media in 2016.
On the professional level, Dr. Shaker has built a rich journalistic career spanning over 15 years, working as both editor and correspondent in several leading Egyptian and Arab media institutions. He began as a trainee journalist at Al-Hayat in 2006, then worked as a correspondent for Al-Masry Al-Youm (2009–2012), later joining Veto newspaper (2012–2016). Since 2016, he has been working as an editor at Youm7. He also held leadership roles such as Deputy Head of the Governorates Section at Al-Mowaten newspaper and Deputy Director of Fars News Agency in Cairo. Beyond print journalism, he has served as a television correspondent for channels including MBC Masr, ONTV, and Al-Faraeen.
In addition to his journalistic career, Mahmoud Shaker contributes actively to academia as an adjunct lecturer at the Faculty of Mass Communication – Menoufia University, where he teaches journalistic writing and delivers training workshops since 2020. He also lectures at the Faculty of Specific Education – Menoufia University, and serves as a journalism trainer at the National Studies and Creativity Center in Menoufia.
He has continuously worked on enhancing his skills through advanced training programs, including strategic studies and national security courses at Nasser Higher Military Academy, a digital transformation program at Menoufia University, and specialized training in online journalism, digital production, social media, and press design. He also obtained a TOT (Training of Trainers) international certification, qualifying him as an accredited international trainer.
In recognition of his efforts, Mahmoud Shaker has received numerous certificates of appreciation from academic and official institutions, including Menoufia University, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Teachers’ Union, the Directorate of Social Solidarity, as well as health institutions such as the National Liver Institute in Menoufia, acknowledging his role in community awareness and social service.
