Associate Professor Dr. Abdelilah Chahdi

Associate Professor Dr. Abdelilah Ouazzani Chahdi is one of Morocco’s distinguished academics in the field of linguistics and language studies, combining in his career scientific research, teaching, and active participation in cultural and community initiatives. Born in Fez in 1978, he pursued his education there and later earned a PhD in Arts and Humanities – Linguistics from Ibn Tofail University, Kenitra (2018–2019). Before that, he obtained a Master’s degree in Linguistic Development and Issues of Literary and Linguistic Terminology from Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Fez (2012), and a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Literature (2003) from the same university. He also holds a diploma in Computer Science, specializing as a programmer.

In terms of research, Dr. Ouazzani completed a doctoral dissertation entitled “Mechanisms of Terminology Formation: A Case Study of Sociolinguistic Terminology”, along with earlier work at the master’s level on loanwords in the Unified Dictionary of Linguistic Terms, and his undergraduate research on dramatic writing in the works of Mohamed Kaghat. These studies have enriched Arabic linguistic scholarship and contributed to linking linguistic research with broader social and cultural contexts.

Academically and professionally, he has taught courses in education sciences, pedagogy, and didactics at various schools and institutes. He has also engaged in training programs on digital education and the use of technological platforms in teaching. Furthermore, he received specialized training in psychodrama and therapeutic theater from Drama Without Borders Institute in Germany, adding a strong humanistic and educational dimension to his career. In addition, he has worked as an educational advisor and trainer in the regional delegations of Islamic Affairs in Fez and Meknes, and he also gained teaching experience in primary and secondary education.

Dr. Ouazzani has contributed scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed journals such as Tarjumāyāt and Ru’yā, and he has participated in numerous national and international conferences, both in-person and online. His presentations have covered topics such as linguistic terminology, education, social phenomena, and studies in theater and dramatic writing. He also took part in major conferences, including the Fez International Conference for Peace (2019), where he chaired one of the academic sessions.

Beyond academia, Dr. Ouazzani is an active cultural and community figure. He has served on national and international juries for cultural and artistic festivals, contributed to the production of educational theater and film projects, and is a member of several associations focused on peace and sustainable development.
