Assistant Professor Dr. Gehad El-Sharkawy

Assistant Professor Dr. Gehad  El-Sharkawy is an Egyptian academic and researcher specializing in media and public relations. She is widely recognized for her scientific contributions and active community engagement, combining academic excellence with professional expertise and participation in national initiatives. Born on October 1, 1989, in Minya Governorate – Beni Mazar, Dr. Gehad represents a young, ambitious scholar who has successfully established herself in both academic and professional fields.

Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media (Public Relations Division) from the Faculty of Arts, Minya University, graduating with a “Good” grade. She later earned her Master’s degree in 2016 with distinction, with a thesis entitled “The Role of Political Marketing Campaigns in Shaping the Mental Image of Election Candidates from Political Parties and Its Impact on Youth Attitudes Toward Political Participation.” In 2021, she obtained her Ph.D. in Media with the highest honors for her dissertation on “The Role of Government Communication Strategies in Shaping Public Attitudes Toward Sustainable Development Issues.”

Her academic contributions include numerous published studies and conference papers. Among them: “The Role of Social Media in Shaping Youth Attitudes Toward Political Participation” presented at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication International Conference in 2018, and “The Role of Communication in Shaping Public Attitudes Toward Health Development Issues – Applied to the ‘100 Million Health’ Campaign” published in the Scientific Journal of Public Relations and Advertising Research. She also presented peer-reviewed work at the Fourth International Conference of Ahram Canadian University in collaboration with UNESCO on Media Education in Facing the Invasion of Minds in the Digital Age.

Professionally, Dr. Gehad has held various academic and community positions. She served as an Assistant Lecturer at the International Institute for Journalism and News Sciences (2017–2020), is a fellow of the Egyptian Association for Public Relations, and a member of the Press, Media, and Publications Syndicate. She has also worked as an editor for newspapers such as Misr El-Gedida and Zoom News. Beyond academia, she has played an active role in Minya Governorate’s community development units and youth initiatives.

Her contributions extend to numerous conferences and workshops, including Minya University’s international conference on Arab-Western Dialogue, national conferences on Egypt’s Population Problem and Identity in a Changing World, and several academic festivals. Notably, she received an award from her faculty for achieving first place in her graduation project and was honored as the youngest parliamentary candidate in Egypt’s 2015 elections.

Dr. Gehad has acquired a wide range of professional and research skills, supported by extensive training in fields such as media, statistical analysis (SPSS), digital transformation, business administration, and electronic marketing. She also holds certifications in English language proficiency, including TOEFL, and ICDL computer literacy.
