Professor Dr. Lara Khaled

Professor Dr. Lara Khaled is a distinguished Lebanese–Belgian academic and cultural figure, originally from Jeita, Keserwan. She earned her Ph.D. with highest honors in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the University of Lille III in France, and pursued postgraduate studies at Saint Joseph University of Beirut, specializing in musicology, piano performance, and composition.

Throughout her career, Professor Dr. Khaled has held prominent cultural and academic positions. She served as Cultural Advisor at the Lebanese Ministry of Culture (2008–2009), professor at the Higher Institute of Music (1997–2009), and Chair of the Cultural Projects Management Committee of the Arab Cultural Complex since 2007. She has also been an active member of cultural associations such as “Cultural Dialogue” and the Lebanese–Chinese Friendship Society. Additionally, she has led several initiatives honoring leading Arab artistic figures, including the Rahbani School and Wadih Al-Safi.

In higher education, she has taught philosophy and Arabic language and literature at both the Lebanese University and Saint Joseph University. She has organized and coordinated international academic conferences, including Humanities in Higher Education: Realities and Prospects and The Sīyāb Conference and the Modernist Poetry Movement. In 2017, she was appointed Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts, Lebanese University – Second Branch.

Her scholarly contributions include the Culture Series (Beirut, 2014), with titles such as Analysis of Creativity, The Brilliance and Criticisms of the Artistic Movement, Arabic Language and Musical Education, Music and Religion in the Arab World, Human Values after Globalization, and Interdisciplinary Studies between Theatre, Narrative, and Music.

Professor Dr. Khaled has represented Lebanese academia and culture internationally, presenting lectures and research in Lebanon, China, Tunisia, Kuwait, Algeria, Jordan, and France. Her work explores themes such as mythology, medicine, music, and interfaith dialogue, alongside her contributions to media and cultural life.

Bringing together rigorous academic research with a deep cultural and artistic background, Professor Dr. Lara Khaled stands out as one of the most prominent contemporary figures in Arabic literary, linguistic, and cultural studies.
