Professor Dr. Emil Badi’ Ya’qoub

Professor Dr. Emil Badi’ Ya’qoub is a prominent Lebanese academic in the field of Arabic language and linguistic studies, renowned for his extensive contributions to scholarly research, manuscript editing, and the preparation of reference works that have become essential resources for scholars. Dr. Ya’qoub was born in 1950 in the Koura region of northern Lebanon and progressed through his academic career to become one of the leading figures in modern Arabic studies.

Currently, Dr. Emil Ya’qoub serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Suleiman International University. Simultaneously, he holds the position of Professor of Linguistics at the Lebanese University, teaching in both the Tripoli and Beirut branches. He also chaired the Department of Arabic Language at the third branch of the Lebanese University, mentoring generations of researchers and students.

Dr. Ya’qoub is particularly recognized for his dedication to editing and analyzing classical texts. He has provided detailed explanations, scholarly introductions, analytical footnotes, and precise indices, transforming these works into academically reliable editions relied upon by specialists. In addition, he has authored dictionaries and encyclopedias on Arabic literary examples and linguistics, alongside in-depth studies in philology and Arabic calligraphy.
